An ancient Kyoto Honyama Nakayama kiita tennen toishi with red and dark black-umber kawa skin, indicating that the stone was pulled from the very edge of the mine's strata. The sides of the stone are hand-sawn, the top is flat and ready to be used. The honing surface texture is baby-bottom smooth. 
 
It is mounted and pressure-fitted into a handmade wooden dai base as seen in the photos,

The two eyes on the top surface are not toxic, and they will not scratch steel in a bad way. This is fast-cutting and is a craft-size stone that can be used as a straight razor size and shape, 182 x 62 x 10mm thick.
