This Narutaki is a softer asagi type tomae stone in the Mohs 3+ range, meaning that it will absorb water more easily than a harder stone. The compaction is independent of the grit fineness.  One corner is missing as you can see  but the end is square so it will fit into a stone holder. I have tested this stone with Henckels Friodur and a few other vintage blades and found that it will leave shave-ready edges of many brands.
