A large beefy stone that is very pure and smooth for honing razors but because of its size it is especially suited for tools and knives. The back has been flattened but is not fully finished. Rated at 3- on the hardness Mohs scale it is 204 x 77 x 29mm and weighs 1121 grams.

The top surface is flattened and paired with a generous tomonagura for years of work. The "hole" on one side is about 1cm deep and does not appear to lead anywhere else. The yellow namazu lines are not toxic and do not affect steel in one way or the other.

I encourage sealing the sides of all sedimentary stones, especially if there a inclusions, cracks, or fissures and or if the stone is used in an active workshop where the stone is constantly wet. For casual use, sealing, especially all four sides, and preferably the back with one of either a marine type of spar varnish, a synthetic lacquer, urushi, or a cashew-derived lacquer is prudent.
