This rare kiita displays the geology of a shallow ridgeline mine which was opened in the early 20th century. I have visited and documented this mine site and referenced it in my book "Narutaki, Japanese Sharpening Stone Heaven". It is a medium-hard stone with saw mark score-lines along portions of all four sides. The upper location at Okudo was at first an open-pit mine that created stones of a singularly soft and pure quality, all of which had high silica and alumina mineral content.
 
This razor-grade stone, deemed the highest grade, is organically shaped and is 160mm long by x67mm wide x 30mm thick.
 
A barber-size stone, easily held in the hand. There is a lifetime of honing yet to be uncovered. I have tested the stone with Hinckels Friodur razors and Brian Brown and Tim Zowada steel razors. Selected Tomo Nagura slurry stone will be included in the package.
