#1116 Okudo akapin knife stone

One of the more graphic stones, this one I photographed when
wet to demonstrate the contrasts, the great imagery with the
wide portions of namazu in green and dull straw yellow. A big stone
that will hold up under the pressure of knives, it is softer which
helps to induce some really fast cutting on knives. I would regard
this stone as a pre-finisher for tools or a finishing stone for
common carbon steel knives. With bi-metal or layered steels this
stone will create contrast visuals and it will sharpen stainless
steel too. Both the front and the back have been lapped flat, there
are no open inclusions and the stone is solid and should last years
even in a busy shop. The area on the back where the patch
of kawa is is under cut and below the sharpening surface so
it does not influence the sharpening properties and that kawa
will eventually wear off as the stone is used.

The stone (toishi) has been lapped flat and the
corners and edges beveled unless otherwise noted. All of my
stones come with a tested and appropriately sized tomonaguara
slurry stone, and a money back guarantee minus the return shipping.
