Nakayama koppa iro tomae #170
Beautiful iro tomae from the Nakaykama mine. I suspect that this stone wasmined in the mid 1960's by Kato-san. Because it has kawa skin on all foursides and the back the indications are that it came from a nook in the mine,a corner of the shelf or cavity. This is a razor grade hone, and although it is alevel 4+ in hardness it will create a shave ready edge if you approach it witha light hand. The colors are yellows and hints of rouge, the kawa skin ismade up of ochers, umbers and burnt umbers and two patches of black witha sparkling element. As a hand held size and shape, it is thin so a wooden base would bring itoff your palm a bit moreThe stone (toishi) has been lapped perfectly flat and the corners and edgesbeveled unless otherwise noted. All of my stones come with a money backguarantee minus the return shipping.Hardness8+
